The Arts & Education Council (AEC) has been enriching the Chattanooga community through innovative film programs for over 40 years, first with the Independent Film Series and now with the Back Row Film Series.
The Back Row Film Series takes film beyond the screen. Film screenings are paired with guest speakers, musical performances, culinary presentations and visual art. Program topics address issues that are relevant to the community and draw a diverse and engaged audience.
The result is an innovative approach to film viewing that connects each art form and prompts conversations.
Created in 2005, in response to the Chattanooga community’s demand for more film programming, the Back Row Films Series is held from May through September at various venues in the community. Partnerships with local businesses and organizations make this truly a city-wide celebration of film.
The Back Row Film Series contributes to Chattanooga’s thriving film community. Attendance at Back Row Film Series events has grown 32% in the past two years.
